Thank you to everyone who supported our $1.00 Casual for a Cause day on Friday! Together we raised $428 for Toys to Tots!
Please Join Us! HSA Meeting This Evening
The SJS Home & School Association (similar to a PTA/PTO) will hold its October meeting on Wednesday, October 7th – from 6:00-7:00pm in the school cafeteria. We encourage all Pre-K through Grade 8 parents to attend to learn about ways to get involved in our school community and get information about events that will be upcoming in the next few months.
When you arrive at the school, please ring the buzzer at the breezeway doors and then head downstairs to the cafeteria for the meeting.
Any questions can be directed to our HSA President, parent volunteer Sara Scholsky, at hsa@saintjamesschool.net.
No School Tomorrow (Thursday) + Office Closed
As a reminder, there is no school this coming Thursday, October 8th, for offsite teacher professional development.
We are also off from school on Monday, October 12 for the Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Holiday.
*The SJS Main Office will be closed both Thursday and Monday.*
This Friday: $1.00+ Casual for a Cause
This Friday, Saint James School will have our 1st Casual for a Cause day of the new school year in support of Toys for Tots in conjunction with Megan’s Place.
Toys for Tots helps collect and distribute new toys to children in need during the Christmas season, but the teen population is often overlooked in these collections. With that in mind, Megan’s Place is fundraising to specifically support Christmas options for teens.
To participate, students must bring their donation of $1.00 or more to school on Friday and give it to their homeroom teacher. Attire must follow the guidelines outlined on page 11 of the 2026-2027 Parent Student Handbook. Please direct any questions to your child’s homeroom teacher.
Grandparents’ Day 2026 (Grades K-5)
Saint James School is excited to celebrate and honor the Grandparents of our Kindergarten – 5th Grade students on October 23rd! Please review all the details below and complete the RSVP form at by WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 14th; Guest and dismissal information provided via the RSVP form will be shared with teachers.
ALL Families with a student in Grades K – 5:
Please complete this RSVP & Important Info Form (<—–click here to open)
**For planning purposes, ALL K-5th Grade Families are asked to complete the RSVP form (even if you do not have a guest coming for your child)**
Guest Arrival
We will welcome all visitors with a special program in the Gym starting at 10:00am (Gym doors will be open at 9:45am). After the program, visitors will be guided to the classrooms to enjoy a special activity with their grandchildren. Please make sure visitor(s) know which teacher your child has. Also, please keep in mind when determining who to invite that our school has multiple stair levels and no elevators.
Guest Guidelines
While grandparents are our intended special guests for this day, if your K – 5 child does not have a grandparent that is able to join us, a special guest (**but NOT an SJS parent**) is welcome to attend in place of the grandparents. With limited space in the classroom and the nature of the day, however, if one or more grandparents will be attending please do not invite other individuals as well. Thank you for understanding. As always, please do not be concerned if your student doesn’t have a grandparent/special guest – they will be matched up with a friend and/or given other special consideration by the teacher.
Dismissal Info
October 23rd is a 12:05pm dismissal day, however students may be dismissed with their grandparents when the classroom activities are complete (typically this is around 11:30am). There is a place in the RSVP form below to note if your student will be staying until 12:05pm or being dismissed early on this day. Older or younger siblings that are not in K – 5 may also be dismissed early on this day (please also provide this info in the form).
Lunch at School
Since we now serve lunch at school on early dismissal days, this one is a bit tricky since we will have so many guests in the classrooms during our lunch waves. Therefore, if your child is leaving early with their grandparents (they will be done about 11:30ish), we will not plan for those students to have lunch at school that day. Especially as grandparents and students will often go out to lunch after leaving SJS.
However, all students in middle school that are not being dismissed with a younger sibling at 11:30am will go to the cafeteria on this day. Also, for any K-5 students that do not have a guest on this day OR are going to aftercare, hot lunch will be available. Please reach out if you have questions or concerns on this.
We are excited for this fun day!
Combined Buses Begin Tomorrow
Starting tomorrow, Wednesday (10/7) the public schools in town will start their Wednesday early dismissal schedule, which limits the number of buses available for SJS. All parents with a student that ride the bus home should have received an email yesterday from Mrs. Guenther. Please reach out with any questions.
The combined bus schedule will be in effect every Wednesday through the end of May unless otherwise noted in the email blast.
