Saint James School is excited to celebrate and honor the Grandparents of our Kindergarten – 5th Grade students on October 23rd! Please review all the details below and complete the RSVP form at by WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 14th; Guest and dismissal information provided via the RSVP form will be shared with teachers.
ALL Families with a student in Grades K – 5:
Please complete this RSVP & Important Info Form (<—–click here to open)
**For planning purposes, ALL K-5th Grade Families are asked to complete the RSVP form (even if you do not have a guest coming for your child)**
Guest Arrival
We will welcome all visitors with a special program in the Gym starting at 10:00am (Gym doors will be open at 9:45am). After the program, visitors will be guided to the classrooms to enjoy a special activity with their grandchildren. Please make sure visitor(s) know which teacher your child has. Also, please keep in mind when determining who to invite that our school has multiple stair levels and no elevators.
Guest Guidelines
While grandparents are our intended special guests for this day, if your K – 5 child does not have a grandparent that is able to join us, a special guest (**but NOT an SJS parent**) is welcome to attend in place of the grandparents. With limited space in the classroom and the nature of the day, however, if one or more grandparents will be attending please do not invite other individuals as well. Thank you for understanding. As always, please do not be concerned if your student doesn’t have a grandparent/special guest – they will be matched up with a friend and/or given other special consideration by the teacher.
Dismissal Info
October 23rd is a 12:05pm dismissal day, however students may be dismissed with their grandparents when the classroom activities are complete (typically this is around 11:30am). There is a place in the RSVP form below to note if your student will be staying until 12:05pm or being dismissed early on this day. Older or younger siblings that are not in K – 5 may also be dismissed early on this day (please also provide this info in the form).
Lunch at School
Since we now serve lunch at school on early dismissal days, this one is a bit tricky since we will have so many guests in the classrooms during our lunch waves. Therefore, if your child is leaving early with their grandparents (they will be done about 11:30ish), we will not plan for those students to have lunch at school that day. Especially as grandparents and students will often go out to lunch after leaving SJS.
However, all students in middle school that are not being dismissed with a younger sibling at 11:30am will go to the cafeteria on this day. Also, for any K-5 students that do not have a guest on this day OR are going to aftercare, hot lunch will be available. Please reach out if you have questions or concerns on this.
We are excited for this fun day!

Starting tomorrow, Wednesday (10/7) the public schools in town will start their Wednesday early dismissal schedule, which limits the number of buses available for SJS. The combined bus schedule will be in effect every Wednesday through the end of May unless otherwise noted in the email blast.
Cross Country Meet Wednesday
The Saint James School Cross Country team will take on Illing Middle School and Timothy Edwards Middle School this Wednesday at 3:45pm. All Saber fans are welcome to come out and watch the meet! Meet begins at 3:45pm.

SJS Basketball Registration is Open (Grades 4-8)
We are starting to plan for the 2026-2027 basketball season, which runs early November through mid-March. Basketball is open to boys & girls in 4th – 8th grade. Saint James School typically has at least 9 basketball teams each year, so your prompt return of the required paperwork is appreciated. Open Gym practices for registered players will start shortly.
For younger students/new families, here is some additional information about the Saint James School Basketball program. Please note, day/times are subject to change based on volunteer coach availability, but these represent days/times from the past few years so we hope to stick with this schedule:
Boys
* Our 4th & 5th grade boys typically participate in a developmental program. Practice dates and games are typically Saturday mornings. There may also be one practice during the week (Fridays) after school or in the evenings. We typically have 2 – 3 teams so we will need extra coaches at this level if you are able to help.
* Depending on sign-up counts, we anticipate 6th grade boys will be JV, 7th & 8th will participate at the Varsity level. JV boys typically practice 2 nights during the week (Tuesday/Thursday at 4:30pm) with games typically on Saturdays. Varsity typically practices Tuesday/Thursday evenings after JV (6:00pm). Varsity games are also in the evenings during the week with possible tournament play on select weekends.
Girls
* Depending on sign-up counts, we anticipate 4th – 6th grade girls will be JV, 7th & 8th girls will participate at the Varsity level. Scheduling of games and practice commitments are the same as the boys JV/Varsity. Girls typically practice on Monday and Wednesday evenings at those same times.

SJS Cheer Team Sign Up (Gr. 5-8)
The Saint James School 2026-2027 Cheer Team is open to students 5th – 8th grade.
Deadline for all required forms is OCTOBER 15TH; Please send to the main office the following:

Book Fair THANK YOU!
Thank you to everyone who purchased books at our recent SJS Book Fair – together we raised just over $5,000 to buy new books for the classroom libraries and main school library!
Also, an extra BIG THANK YOU to 1st grade parent volunteer Amy Mulé for the countless hours she spent running this event for our school this year and to all the parent volunteers who came in to assist throughout the week.
