Ski Club Starts Tomorrow!
We are excited for our 1st Ski & Snowboard Club trip tomorrow!
As a reminder for families with a student riding the bus to Mt. Southington tomorrow, Mrs. Guenther will be at the Gymnasium doors during morning arrival for students to drop off their ski/snowboard equipment and bags with comfortable clothes, snowpants, helmets, gloves, etc. Please DO NOT park and unload in the drop-and-go morning arrival area – use the Pre-K parking lot or park on Otis Street as per standard protocol.
* Students riding the bus or leaving directly from school with a parent will have an opportunity to change out of their uniform attire shortly before afternoon dismissal. Please try to label all hats, gloves, coats, etc. with student’s name.
* Participants riding the bus that ordered a new RFID card will receive that tomorrow afternoon on the bus. This one card has their lift tickets and rental/lesson passes for ALL FOUR trips – they will need to bring it for each successive ski club. It is $5 at the mountain to order a new card if it gets lost between sessions.
* If you did not order a new RFID card and your student is taking the bus, make sure their card is in their ski coat tomorrow morning.
* Parents taking the bus with their student: We will open the dismissal parking lot for you to leave your car from 1:30pm – 1:45pm. If you come after 1:45pm, you will need to park on the street.
* Please make sure your child has a note informing their teacher that they will be participating in ski club after school if they are taking the bus or will need to change at school.
* For parents driving up, please connect with our parent volunteer coordinator, Steve Joyner, via text at the cell phone number in his informational letter (sent just to participant families). He would like to connect with those in our SJS group before heading out to the slopes.
* If your student is not going to make a trip, will be going home with a parent instead of taking the bus home, etc. – please let Mr. Joyner or Mrs. Guenther know.
While the weather does not look great for tomorrow afternoon, we do ski in all types of weather. As long as the mountain is open, we will be heading out so make sure your student has plenty of dry clothes. There are locker rentals available and places for them to leave dry stuff in the lodge. For any last minute questions, please reach out to Amy Guenther or Steve Joyner.
