Unfortunately we need to share another notice about parking, as we have received two more complaints from our neighbors in just the past two days.
Saint James School values the positive relationship that we have with the people in our neighborhood and we really need everyone’s help and consideration. Please share this with anyone dropping-off/picking-up your child(ren) each day.
* Please DO NOT park within 25 feet of a stop sign (the complaint was from cars on St. James Street), but it is a CT state law so please use this rule all around our neighborhood.
* DO NOT (under any circumstances) park in front of someone’s driveway – even if only for a few minutes.
* Please DO NOT park on the sidewalk.
* DO NOT park in the Otis Street Condo parking area. This is private property!
We realize parking is tight at arrival and dismissal, but we have a huge parking lot at St. James Church and town crossing guards at our disposal.
If you cannot find on-street parking that is within our communicated guidelines, please use the Church lot.

Important Notice
Today we were made aware of two additional positive cases of Covid-19 among individuals in our school community. These new cases are completely unrelated to each other, and unrelated to the two cases from last week. While it was inevitable that we would have some Covid cases in our school community, having several independent cases within a week of each other is a good reminder that this virus is still out there and impacting families. We are extremely grateful to parents for continuing to conduct those important health assessments each day before school and erring on the side of caution when it comes to illness. Please know those efforts are making a difference.
As is our policy, if your child was impacted due to a direct exposure and needs to quarantine, you have ALREADY received a personal phone call from Mrs. Zorger (Principal) or our school nurse, Mrs. Vignati to discuss the situation. If your child was in a classroom with a positive case, you received a separate email notification from the school earlier today. For all other families, please continue to be vigilant and reach out to either Mrs. Zorger or Mrs. Vignati with any questions.
Tonight: DQ Dine Out
Stop by DQ in Manchester for dinner and/or a tasty dessert this evening (Wednesday, October 20th) between the hours of 5:00pm – 7:00pm, and 20% of orders will be donated back to Saint James School. Present the flyer below for your order to count towards the fundraiser.
Important Notes for Conferences
Please note the following:
* Teachers will email their Zoom Link to you in advance of your conference time. Please reach out to them via email if you do not receive it.
* Please make sure you are using your name or your child’s name for your Zoom ID so the teacher knows who is in the waiting room.
* Please be on time for your conference. Teachers will be holding firm to the 15 minute time allotment.
* The teacher will be in a secure, private area for the conference. Please ensure that you are doing the same on your end.
Last Call: Box Tops
Saint James School will be sending one last batch of physical Box Tops in for redemption TOMORROW (box tops clipped off of product packaging). If you still have any of the physical Box Tops at your house, please send them in to the SJS Main Office by this Thursday (10/21) so our school can get credit.
So far this year, our school has earned $106.80 from box tops (mostly from receipt scans). Please download the Box Tops App (if you have not already done so) and scan your receipts when you purchase any participating Box Tops product. It’s super easy!
You can also refer friends and family members to participate for Saint James School and earn an extra bonus!
When we reach $1,000 (money that is used for classroom supplies, books, etc.) the whole school will get a dress down day!
This Week’s Schedule
Saint James School will have 12:05pm dismissal days tomorrow (Wednesday, 10/20) and Thursday (10/21) for parent/teacher conferences.
Aftercare will be in session on both days, however no hot lunch is served so students will need a lunch/drink from home if going to aftercare on either/both of those days.
STEM Club for 3rd Graders
A STEM Club session will be held after school on Tuesday, October 26 for students in 3rd
grade. If your child would like to attend, please fill out the Permission Form below. There are a limited number of spaces so students will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Please direct any questions to Mrs. Poth at apoth@saintjamesschool.net.

Arrival Notes
Thank you to all of our families for your assistance in ensuring a smooth and safe morning arrival (and afternoon dismissal). We appreciate the extra caution and adherence to our polices so that everyone has a great start (and end) to their school day!
A couple of reminders from the school office and from our crossing guards:
* We continue to see an excessive number tardy arrivals each day. K-8 students should be in the building by 7:50am so that teachers can begin their class time when the bell rings without interruption. Students were reminded about the importance of punctuality during morning announcements today;
* Please remember that cars should never stop ON (or too close to) a crosswalk;
* And, lastly, please walk in front of the crossing guards (not behind) for safety reasons.

Otis Street Apartment Complex
Please do not pull into the driveway of, or park in, the “Mansion & Coach House Estates” apartment complex on Otis Street. This is private property and today we received a notice of complaint from residents that SJS parents are pulling into their property and/or parking there. If you do not want to park in the Saint James Church Parking Lot, the only other option for parking is on-street/curbside parking in designated areas.
