Our parent volunteer coordinator, Mr. Joyner, is working on details for the 2027 Ski/Snowboard Club. To plan effectively and book the correct bus size, we need to get a solid count of students riding the bus and our adult bus riders/chaperones. Please complete the interest form below by Wednesday, November 4th. Please only complete the form for those who know they will participate. Ski & Snowboard Registration Paperwork will be sent to people who have completed the form before we open it up to other families/students.
PLEASE COMPLETE THIS FORM (<– Click Link)
Here are the details for those who have not participated previously:
*Club Dates this year will be 1/8, 1/29, 2/5, 2/19.
*Open to students in grades 3-8. Students in grades 3 & 4 must have a parent/guardian with them for each session.
*No prior experience required for students. Chaperones (even those of students in grades 3 & 4) do not need to ski/snowboard, but are absolutely welcome to do so.
*The group leaves right from school following 2:00pm dismissal. We ski/snowboard at Mount Southington. We return to the school about 8:30pm.
*Last year the cost of the bus was $120 per rider (this amount covers all four dates – will vary based on # of riders but should be around the same amount this year).
*The group cost for the 4 lift tickets this year is $176 (total), optional ski/snowboard lessons for all 4 sessions is an additional $72, and optional equipment rental for all 4 sessions is an additional $84.

Last XC Practice Tomorrow & Banquet 11/17
Tomorrow (Tuesday, 11/3) our students will have their last cross country practice of the season after school. Please note that, in keeping with tradition, students will run to DQ for ice cream and will need to be picked up there and brought back to SJS to get their stuff.
We are excited for our runners that have been selected to run in the CT State Middle School XC Championships this upcoming Saturday (11/7) at Wickham Park.
Our end-of-year banquet for runners and coaches will be held at school on November 17th during lunch. Pizza and drinks will be provided. On the day of the banquet, runners should wear their XC uniform top with their gym shirt under it, and their navy gym sweatpants to school.
After 11/17, please wash your student’s uniform and return it to the school in an baggie labeled with the runner’s name.
A huge Thank You to SJS Middle School teacher Mr. Conlin for running this program for our students this year and to our awesome parent volunteers (who we would not have been able to have this extracurricular without): Brian Lysik, Ashley Gurzler, Elisa Zaleski, and Kristin & Adam Pillsbury!

Reminder: Winter Uniform Starts Monday
Monday, November 2nd begins Winter Uniform for our K-8 students. This means students may no longer wear shorts to school, girls must wear navy tights or navy knee-high socks with their skorts, and Middle School boys (Gr. 6-8) must wear their SJS Uniform button-down shirt and a tie on non-gym days (the tie does not have to be any specific pattern and bow ties are acceptable). Middle school girls must also be in the uniform button-down shirt.
Beginning Monday, white socks may now only be worn on gym days.
Tomorrow: $1.00 Halloween Casual-for-a-Cause Day
On Friday, October 30th, students and staff are invited to dress down for a $1.00+ donation, which the school will collect and donate to House of Heroes Connecticut. House of Heroes is a organization dedicated to improving the living conditions of military and public safety veterans and/or their spouses who are in need of assistance in maintaining their homes.
Donations should come to school with students on October 30th and be given to the homeroom teacher.
Attire must be Halloween-themed and/or include the colors of orange, black, or purple.
Please keep in mind that standard dress down guidelines per page 11 of the handbook apply (which includes no ripped jeans, no sleeveless shirts/tank tops, no crop tops, leggings must be paired with a long shirt/sweatshirt, etc.). NO Costumes/masks, hair dye, nail polish, etc.
Also, as this is still the last day of the Fall/Spring uniform, shorts ARE still permitted to be worn on this day.
